The Socotab Group is committed to working
in a socially responsible manner and is very
conscious of the significance of its business
activities in the local community. The Board
of Directors of Socotab Frana SA in 2001 adopted
a resolution to formalise the company’s social responsibility, both in the company’s way
of working and within the local society. In support
of this declaration, each subsidiary company
also has a similar Board resolution and all companies undertake to operate in compliance with the Group’s business ethics policy.

On the philanthropic side of social responsibility, Socotab companies support various local charities and organizations. In addition, this year the Socotab Group has sponsored two development projects
in the Republic of Macedonia to improve the sanitary facilities in primary schools. Buildings were renovated, new toilets and washrooms installed, water supply connections were made and waste disposal upgraded. The schools selected are close
to Skopje and to Bitola, in growing regions of oriental tobacco.
